The research described in the paper “Imitation of β-lactam binding enables broad-spectrum metallo-β-lactamase inhibitors” by Dmitrijs, Martins, Marina, Edgars and collaborators from Chemistry Research Laboratory and the Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research (University of Oxford, UK) has been named by the Latvian Academy of Sciences as one of the 12 major achievements in Latvian science this year. Congratulations!

Students from our group have participated in Balticum Organicum Syntheticum on 3-6th of July.

Artis spent four months as a visiting postdoctoral researcher in Prof. A. C. Spivey’s group (Imperial College London). Welcome back!
During his visit, Artis explored the capability of a series of chiral-DMAP organocatalysts developed in Prof. A. C. Spivey’s group as components of a dynamic kinetic resolution process for enantioselective acylation of sec-alcohols.
The visit was funded by PostDoc Latvija grant (
ERDF grant No. 1.1.1.2/VIAA/3/19/589).
