Master’s theses were defended by:
Glebs Jersovs “Synthetic approach towards enantiopure S­VI based γ-lactam bioisosteres” (supervisors Dr. chem. Edgars Suna, MSc. chem. Mihail Kazak);
Nauris Narvaiss “‘Design and synthesis of novel metallo-β-lactamase inhibitors” (supervisors Dr. chem. Edgars Suna, MSc. chem. Toms Kalnins).

Bachelor’s theses were defended by:
Katrina Prane “Electrochemical decarboxylation of N-substituted 2-aminomalonic acid monoesters in intramolecular Hofer-Moest reaction” (supervisor MSc. chem. Olesja Koleda);
Merija Agnese Meiberga “Synthesis of substituted 7-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-1-yl methanol derivatives” (supervisors Dr. chem. Ilga Mutule, MSc. chem. Krista Jaunsleine);

The head of our laboratory Edgars Sūna, has been awarded the Order of the Three Stars (3rd class).
This prestigious award is received by people who have demonstrated excellence in serving Latvian state and nation, contributing to the growth of our country with their selfless professional and social work as well as civic achievements.
Edgars’ scientific achievements promote Latvia’s integration into the European and global research community, while his academic work fosters the young generation of scientists.

Students from our group receive scholarships from University of Latvia Foundation for 2020/2021 academic year. Congrats!

Arturs and Sabine received Alfreds Raisters scholarship for Master’s students and Glebs received AS Olainfarm Excellence Scholarship.

University of Latvia Foundation has been operating since 2004. Toms Izmailovs “‘The effect of cation–π interactions on the optical properties of luminophores” (supervisors MSc. chem. Kaspars Leduskrasts, Dr. chem. Edgars Suna).

Bachelor’s thesis was defended by Arturs Mazarevics “Design of ultra-long phosphorescence in carbazole derivatives” (supervisors MSc. chem. Kaspars Leduskrasts, Dr. chem. Edgars Suna).

The Latvian Academy of Sciences names 10 major achievements in science in 2019. The research described in the paper “Cation–π interactions secure aggregation induced emission of planar organic luminophores” published by Edgars, Kaspars and Artis is among Latvian the most significant achievements in science. Congratulations!
