We are proud to see that two Latvian Council of Science grant applications from our laboratory have received funding! This year the competition was especially fierce as only 50 projects out of 579 applications were funded with as small as 8.64% success rate. Sincere congratulations to Igors Sokolovs (grant title “Electrochemical synthesis of chelation-stabilized organo-λ3-bromanes”) as well as Glebs Jersovs and Pavel Donets (grant title “Synthetic approach to sulfur-based enantiopure gamma-lactam bioisosteres”). Congratulations!

The research described in the paper “Electrochemical Generation of Hypervalent Bromine(III) Compounds” by Igors, Edgars and collaborators from Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Rostock (Germany) has been named by the Latvian Academy of Sciences as one of the 10 major achievements in Latvian science this year. Congratulations!
